The Allsvenskan is the top professional football league in Sweden, and it is also known as the Swedish Allsvenskan. The league was founded in 1924 and currently consists of 16 teams that compete against each other over a 30-round season.

The Allsvenskan typically runs from late March to early November, with a short summer break in June and July. At the end of each season, the bottom two teams are relegated to the Superettan, while the top two teams qualify for the UEFA Champions League and the third-placed team enters the UEFA Europa League qualifying rounds.
